How Smart Are Humans?
Scientists tell us that dolphins and porpoises have a complicated language and can actually learn to use an iPad. An octopus can build its own house, birds sing complicated melodies, and parrots can remember as many as a thousand words. Monkeys can be taught sign language, how to drive a car and smoke cigarettes. I’m told that dogs, which possess the intellectual capacity of a three-year-old child, can understand more than 50 words, although from my experience, none of those words include “Don’t shit in the house!”
On the other hand, many humans don’t believe in global climate change, evolution or that President Barack Obama was born in America. They do, however, believe in astrology, angels, virgin birth, a God with a long white beard (whom they should thank when winning an Emmy) and the ability to cure homosexuality through prayer. My question is this: Just how much smarter are we than our animal cousins? From my point of view we humans have very little to be smug about.

interesting thoughts about the human brain … further to comment what makes anyone so vulnerable to anger as the human spirit … never saw a rabbit that angry (but yet sometimes i tower over them … i dont get it i discovered a song “I don’t care anymore was the main lyric almost the only lyric … i expect caring can cost us too much …)

Wisdom is different from intellect……. ANYONE can be intellectual (if they tried hard enough), but Wisdom comes only from God….

Wisdom, comes from God? And I have monkeys flying out my ass! Wisdom comes from education and experiencing life. Good grief.

Mr. Flynt … you always speak the truth … Thank You for that … !!!
Wish you would run for President again … I would rather vote
for a “Monkey” or a “Dog” or “Bird” … etc … than the current “Dudes” we have running for President … now … This country is doomed with the “Lame Choices” we have … We / the United States Citizens … need a “Big Bidnessman” … someone just like YOU !!! an individual who is fiscally conservative and socially liberal … some one who is neutral and fair to all … was wondering ?… is there a chance you might be coming to the St. Louis area anytime soon … ??? Sure would like to go over some “Big Bidness” ideas I have … I strongly feel what I have in mind … will help change and better our country, create more jobs and help those who need help … As always … Thanks for being a Veteran and for having the Courage to speak your mind … Sincerely … BIG jim …

Mr. Flynt,
Your country, once again needs your help. You can not deny your country. Please run for public office. The only chance America has is a sane man on the bridge and a steady hand at the helm.

As usual, you hit the nail on the head Larry. Want to be more relevant again? Take up the gay issue. As someone who is a huge fan of your work, both legally and periodically, I can tell you: you have a voice that should be heard!

Sorry all that this is off topic but wanted to try to reach Mr Flynt. I was arrested for wearing a t-shirt that said “fuck the tax” at a Mohave County Arizona Board of Supervisors meeting. I have been convicted for criminal trespass and await sentencing on Feb 23rd 2012.
I was also arrested for criminal trespass a year before for attempting to carry a pitchfork into the county building where they also allowed people with firearms to enter. This case was aquitted. As Mr Flynt is a proponent of free speech, I thought he might be interested in my story.
Google “Mervin Fried” to find out more. Thank you Mr Flynt for standing your ground and not backing down to those that seek to limit our God given rights!

Regarding astrology I ask what you know of it? My guess is not much. Penn embarrassed himself thoroughly as have others who tried to debunk it. I believe the profoundly stupid are those who dismiss and ridicule others simply because they think differently. So many discoveries wouldn’t have been made were it not for people willing to be called crack pots. Oh how they laugh in the end.

Mr. Flynt,
Your strength and resolve to strike against those who would oppress the citizenry of the US and erode our freedoms (particularly the Furst Amendment) is inspiring. While I don’t always agree with certain writing genres, I am outraged at how certain money-handlers (credit card companies and their bulldog, PayPal) skirt those freedoms by telling booksellers what they can and cannot sell…if they wish to use those services to process any payments whether “outlawed” items are purchased or not…particularly if an indie or small press publishes the work.
You have the best voice to scream our cause and fight, yet again, to protect our freedoms.
Once they are allowed to tell us what we can purchase, and by doing so what artists (writers in particular) can create, they are emboldened and will restrict our markets even further.
Please Mr. Flynt. The creativity, and the future, of our society depends on warriors like you fighting these battles because your voice is much more powerful than we small, indie writers can possibly match.
Thank you for your consideration. If you would like more information, I will be happy to send it to you.
Businesses have no place policing our thoughts.
