Regarding The “Occupy Wall Street” Movement

It started when a bunch of college kids, responding to a tweet, descended on Wall Street. They stayed, and the crowd grew. Now there are thousands of them, and they’re not just in New York City anymore. Nor is the movement still limited to undergrads.

In a nation where 1% of the population controls almost half of the wealth, these protesters have chosen to call themselves the 99 Percent. They are the working class, the poor, the disenfranchised. They represent everyone excluded from a political process that has been hijacked by corporations and multimillionaires. The 99 Percent want their government back.

This looks and feels like something different. It feels organic. It reminds me of the 1960s’ antiwar movement. A long-simmering undercurrent of unrest in our country is now bubbling to the surface. Our politicians ignore this movement at their peril. As Bob Dylan said, “The times they are a-changin’.”

    Hello Larry,

I whole heartedly agree with your posting here. This is a major problem in our country – although I am SURE we are NOT alone – with other countries having the same problem. And it goes across many industries – even the health industry, where people are supposed to be helping others in need of medical help – but, instead just looking to make the BIG Buck. Its totally gotten out of hand. Even to the point of paying $2 for a bottle of water – that really only costs like 3 cents for the plastic & the water. There is an interesting book that hits on all these points in a MAJOR Way. The guy, Les Pinter – comes across in the book as VERY Angry – and trying to make other people Angry. And, I do understand WHY he does this – since, if someone is Angry – they are more apt to DO Something about it. And, his book is gives concrete ways in which people can start doing something about the problem. I would be VERY INTERESTED in hearing back from you about your thoughts about this book. There is a Forward webpage that you can read – to see what the book is about:
    http://www.pinter.com/Foreword.aspx

I would enjoy hearing back from you – and you can e-mail at the address that I gave for this posting. Even if you think his book is a bit over-the-top, I’d still be interested in the feedback. The writer – is a big time computer guy – and like myself (I still work in it – although he has moved onto other technologies) work with the Microsoft Visual FoxPro PC database development language.

    Regards,
    Kurt

    Larry,

I just had the pleasure of watching Woody Harrelson portray you in the People VS. Larry Flint. Until then, I was pretty ignorant to your journey, after that movie, I read and researched all I could find about your plight. I related a great deal to Althea and am grateful to walk this Earth today. Adopted at birth, I was always the outcast. I never fit. After going to prison at age 19, I cleaned up, helped at-risk youth and now have a family. I have never seen a Hustler magazine. Im not a huge porn fan. But who gives a shit, Im a fan of you. Please utilize all of the influence at your disposal to expose these political scumbag, degenerate, douchebag, fucktard, hypocritical, choads. I am not rich. I have little influence. The little influence I do have goes to all that I meet and more importantly, my children. Our generation is the first that may not be able to provide a better life for our kids than the previous generations. The American Dream is Dead. WE live in a plutocracy. Lets fuck with it em. Ill be glad to help in any way I can. Give a call 9707441065. Im in Colorado. I have to say, you are a very unlikely hero. But you are on the top of my list now that I know.

Take Care and FUCK those guys!

Dearest Larry, I LOVE what you stand for because you always were and stiill are about FREEDOM…what AMERICA was based on when it was founded. I LOVE you and Althea, even though I never knew you personally, I agree with what you and she stood and stand for. I KNOW that Althea is looking down on us all and protecting us from all of the REAL evils of the world of today. If GOD said that sex was evil he would NOT have said to, “…go and be Gfruitful”. There are alot more EVIL people in this world that KILL and have no remorse, but all you did was let EVERYONE know that LOVE is what it is ALL about! God bless you, Larry C. Flint! From an open-minded soul as yours and Althea’s!

Larry, let me just say Thank You. Few Americans have the strength that you do. I thank you deeply for giving up your privacy to better the country. you should be on the list of most authentic americans. you are a role model. i only wish i was as strong as you. thank you for giving us the rights that the constitution grants us.

  7. Mroberts Says:

Larry I love what your doing. I have quoted the statement from Ben Franklin to many of my friends. “those who give up their civil liberties for security deserve none” We are trying hard in the south to unite our 99%. If anyone understands long term poverty, its the southern states. I think our founding fathers would be repulsed at the current state of the US. For the people, by the people has become the puppet government, by the lobbyists. I am a generation X’er and I hope we can take back America. We are not apathetic we are tired. Tired of loosing our homes and tired at working jobs that wont even pay the bills for union busting companies. Its not a movement but a revolution of young idealistic young people that will not be ignored and we are hard wired. We can speak from California to New York with the click of the button. Wish us luck.

  8. Terry Says:

Well done Larry. Keep up the great work. If you have not read the book try What Would Jefferson Do?

This country has to turn around. The 99% is a good name but we need to reach back to our begining. Bring the old facts forward and comapere them to todays events.

Start with the East India Trading Company up to and including the huge financial losses of millions of Americans all caused by a few greedy people and a government that was paid to look the other way, and still nothing has changed and we still have not seen the bottom yet.

We need a well financed grass roots effort to give our country back to the people. ou have done much to protect our first admendment rights. Bravo. Frankly I wish you did not have the back ground you have in the adult industry but if I think you can use this to your advantage. You are as bad as they get…in some people eyes, so it is very difficult for one to discredit you much more if at all.

In otherwords there is nowhere to go but up. I would call it the Jefferson movement.

  9. Terry Says:

I was reading an article about James Keating and the Keating Five. The article discussed all five but the one person they focused on was John McCain and I could not hep but ask, when John McCain was running for President, why was not his history with Keating mentioned? Is this not importan? Does it not go direct to character?

Since the main stream media has been reduced to juts a few people in control of everything we see on TV, read in the news paper, or hear on the radio the American people only hear what these few want them to hear. This is one of the first things that has to change.

Then a repeal of the Homeland Security Act. Our rights are far more important than anything else. Yes even more imprtant that have given their lives since 9-11-2001 and I beleive, if they were asked, those people that made the ultimate sacrafice, was their life worth the loss of our freedoms, each one, understanding what it cost all of us, would say absolutley not. Our freedom and liberty that so many have died for since the day the idea of a new country was even quietly thought about should not have been done in vein.
